Depot, a national wholesale foodservice
supplier based in New York, operates cash
and carry warehouses in 21 states. Its warehouse
stores, open only to restaurants and caterers,

The
company has been growing steadily since
April 1994, when HYCO, a New York foodservice
distributor, formed an alliance with Jetro
Cash & Carry, a leading wholesale grocer,
to develop a cash and carry warehouse concept
for foodservice operators. The first Restaurant
Depot of this alliance began serving clients
on Long Island, New York, in March 1995.
One
of the most important tenets of Restaurant
Depot's strategy is to provide restaurateurs
with a low-cost alternative to other suppliers.
It has accomplished this by eliminating
costs that are commonly associated with
foodservice distributors and by passing
along savings of 15% to 25% to its customers.
Restaurant Depot customers may pay for their
purchases with cash, a debit card, pre-approved
check, or credit card.
